Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding tissues. Dentures are made to resemble your natural teeth, and are a great way to replace several missing teeth at once while improving your smile!
There are two types of dentures available: complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used to replace all teeth in your upper or lower jaw and partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are used to restore smile and mouth function if all teeth in one or both jaws have been lost. The dentures are custom created and natural looking. They are fit in the patient's mouth to take the place of the original teeth. Complete dentures are generally removable and may require adjustments in order to create a proper fit with the gums and mouth.
Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture is used when several of your natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. Made of replacement teeth attached to a metal framework, partials help restore functionality to the mouth. The partial will clasp or attach to your remaining teeth, with the metal framework supporting the acrylic teeth.
Partial dentures are an excellent means of replacing several missing teeth at once, and provide much more stability than complete dentures since they use your natural teeth as support. To ensure the longevity of your partial denture, we require all teeth supporting your partial to have necessary treatment completed prior to fabrication.
The fit of your dentures may change over time due to wear, bone loss, or damage. If this occurs, we may be able to repair your denture in the office or by sending it to the lab to restore fit, form and function. In other circumstances a new denture may be your best option. Please let us know if you have any questions about your existing denture, and what we may be able to do to improve it!
